Having been an independent contractor -- just having a benefits and retirement package! If you've never been an independent contractor, you won't understand.
My team is made up of people who are ready and willing to help out with information or action if their knowledge or schedule allows. Really great sharing on this team!
They are open to being contacted (non-frivolously, of course). I've been able to reach out to 3-4 people at the executive level and have them reply and engage. That's very rare for a company of this size, or any size.
Not just one thing, but two: I love the work mix of tech and people -- helping clients get the most out of their system. And I also love the mix of work in that I have activities that are inward-facing to help my team improve.
They promote diversity and back it up with engagement and action. There are opportunities for anyone to get involved, including a non-profit foundation arm with gigs that anyone can volunteer for. I haven't ever worked for a company that had that level of living their values before.
