I'm proud to contribute to a company which successfully and maturely builds great products used by many governments, companies and scientists to understand the world better. Esri has good, intelligent, evolving processes and supports its staff's ideas and ambitions.
They genuinely ask questions, listen to the answers and take them into account in decision making
It reflects continuous career, ability and responsibility growth, not just limited to one role until moving to a different role
Contributing to products that give users the tools for better understanding and planning and managing the world for a challenging future
They genuinely believe that their products should and do make our users more successful and provide the tools for a better future
The challenges have been changing from week to week for all the 20+ years I've worked here, while building on the skills and knowledge I've developed
After 20+ years, my work still varies every week, with different technical and business challenges, as well as the opportunity to support teams and individuals grow and progress
Paid overtime is unusual (for me) in the UK. Esri does want us to manage work/life balance sensibly, but is happy to compensate for extra time that staff put into work
They are enthusiastic to build good products with quality engineering. They are curious, enthusiastic and pragmatic. They trust each other to be able to raise questions and ideas without feeling foolish or judged
They share the ethos of the company of being motivated to build good products that are useful to our customers and the world. There can be heated discussions, but they are respectful, professional and aimed at a good product - not politics and defensiveness
We have the resources (desktop, monitors, laptop) and the desk space needed. It is generally quiet (for an open plan remote R&D office). I prefer to work in the office, but the flexibility to adjust hours and work from home occasionally works well for me. Others enjoy the hybrid (2 days wfh per week
