The work environment is good and safe. Senior management is respectful and considerate. Overall, Elsevier is a good place to work at.
inclusivity, willingness to help and patience.
There is no transparency regarding pay between co-workers. Employees still talk about their pay and there is a huge pay gap. Even top performers are not paid fairly. Even hike after promotion was minimal and clubbed with the annual appraisal.
My work gives me fulfilment as I am helping put out a piece of knowledge out there in the academic world. However, I should be paid more and given more exposure through travelling to sales meets, book launches, conferences, etc. This will also motivate me more.
The compensation is not fair compared to the amount, quality, and experience I bring to my work. My role requires me to attend conferences/seminars for 1:1 interaction with authors but the company is not investing in it, unlike other publishing houses which are doing much better. Offsites can help.
