My co-workers, most of whom care deeply about aircraft safety and delivering outstanding products.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Inspiring creativity and taking acceptable technical risks. If today's HON leadership backed the Wright brothers, they'd still be making bicycles but harping on the great software that rang the bell.
What are some of the best things about your team?
We go above and beyond in terms of doing what we can with the extremely limited resources, both capital and personnel. We demonstrate remarkable creativity and we get excited about meeting the next challenge.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Misguided leadership, who I believe has mis-read the needs of our aerospace customers. A long-term goal of becoming a "software" company might be wise for other industries, but we continue to disappoint our established customers with late deliveries and indifferent responses to technical issues.
