What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Executive leadership is extremely resistant to remote or hybrid work. We are severely suffering with retention and are rarely able to hire anyone experienced, and leadership action has taken too long to change this. You are expected to get the job done at any cost to your personal life.

Leadership needs to care about employee health. Every decision they have made, or not made, about COVID 19 is disturbing. Also, they accept overwork, burnout, and high turnover as natural consequences of being employed at Textron. There is no real diversity. Flexible remote work must be offered.

The ELT seems out of touch with what is going on below them. I believe this has always been the case, but COVID put it under a microscope. How many of these surveys can we fill out? Nothing will change.

What I currently make is the same as what I was making 13 years ago. I am experienced and not planning on leaving but I'm still paid what someone that is just starting out in their career is making.

I believe there should be cost of living raises and the opportunity to work from home. Some people in the company get paid the same as me but get to work from home so in the long wrong are making more.

I made more money doing the same job 12 years ago. I stay because of the company culture but staying makes it financially difficult especially with the way medical plans are now and the amount of money that has to come out of pocket.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

The moral in my department is non-existent and when you have a manager that refuses to participate in team building events because they don't want to "end up getting something stupid because it would piss them off" (exact words), that disparaging attitude carries over to everyone else.

We have people in the department that should not have been hired as they were completely unqualified and they DO NOT show themselves as part of a team at all and try to get others to do their work and abused the remote working as an additional way to not do work. Other teams members are great though

People who care and work hard get overwhelmed and burn out. High performers rarely stay because of this. Training is extremely poor, causing significant problems with backfills. More senior analysts have less responsibility than new hires. Everyone is understaffed.

They need to make sure that the correct people are in the correct positions to advance not only the company but the team and individuals as well.

Management needs to re-evaluate its resistance to allowing hybrid work. Many departments have already proved that it works for them, and ELT's resistance has made me worried about our company's ability to attract future talent with this outdated philosophy.

Certain organizations are too lean, putting pressure on employee morale. There is no time to learn and be curious. New hires are dumped on. a Work From Home option would also be nice.

The management team for my department hasn't and won't do anything to earn the respect of employees and have put people into roles that they either aren't qualified for or have an inappropriate attitude for the role that they have been given.

Something has to be done about the lack of experience, burnout, and turnover. Do better succession planning, even at lower levels. The best people leave. Too many people are getting exemptions from vaccination. Our cubes aren't ergonomic. The domain based approach is creating even worse silos.

We need remote work option and to retain employees. We need to pay people. Leadership needs to care about employee's health and happiness at work. We need better benefits, IT infrastructure, to have trained back ups, and ergonomic desks.

I've worked at 3 different companies prior to Systems. The culture here is BY FAR the worst. From poor facilities to a lack of communication from leadership to a consensus unhappy workforce, it's clear that our company needs big changes.
