I only recommend this job if you need a little bit of extra cash. The hours fluctuate greatly, and often other workers do not show up or call in. I would not recommend this as a career.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Minimum wage does not compensate for 100+ customers per shift, especially when no other staff comes to the cashier's aid.
What are some of the best things about your team?
The team changed so often, as did the dynamic every time new people came and went. Generally, the team is calm and friendly.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Typically, only two employees are in the store at a time. This means that one cashier is left alone to do everything in the front and makes customers impatient and angry.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
It allows people to get decent products for low prices, such as an entire loaf of bread for a dollar. It's welcoming and makes things available to a wide range of socioeconomic status.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
They need to improve supporting and teaching their employees. Often, new employees are left with long lines because none of the leadership staff come to their aid. It makes for a very stressful workday and angry customers.
