What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Take a look at mid and senior level managers in software development. Some of these mangers are very unethical and tarnishing your reputation.

The culture is the best I have ever seen!! EVER! One huge improvement to keep top talent would be to allow for 100% remote work. Traffic in and around Nashville is unreal during normal times. Housing prices are out of reach in some areas too. Allowing 100% remote work would allow for better balance.

What is the best part about your compensation package?
Bonus program is only to upper management. if you're not in that group it's all about your base salary.

I believe my salary is fair, but I know that's not the case for many of my colleagues. Generally our benefits are decent, with the exception of our very poor (well below compatible companies) 401k match and our almost non-existant maternity leave.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Improve the mid and senior level management. Do not promote people into management positions that are not good at management.

All of the teams within Healthstream are too siloed. The teams do not collaborate together.

The interview process was good. Interviewers were friendly, and the process was lot stress.

Irrespective of the outcome, I like how teams are open to talk to the candidate. Based on my experience, i have always seen teams sharing different prospectives about the candidate yet thinking about win-wins.

The interview process was tough, but the interviewers were clear and straightforward. They gave constructive feedback and understood the difference between momentary nerves and overall potential.

I think the poor management causes problems with satisfying customers.

Healthstream is too concerned with processes to the detriment sometimes of the work being done. A process is great but it has to fit the work. It has to make sense with what it is being used for.

The Culture and the people. We spend a lot of time making sure our culture is great! My peers are smart, driven, passionate and compassionate. We push so hard and fast to create awesome products, yet our customers and peers and first and foremost in all we do.

What would you most like to see improved at your company?
There needs to be a feedback loop from the folks doing the work to mgmgt. I do not feel like the feedback I provide to my manager is ever passed along to their management.

The QA department is not diverse. HR often does not respond to emails or make benefit information readily available. The PTO schedule is lacking and until covid, the ability to work remotely was very structured and controlled without a lot of reason.

Better planning and focus on well-defined priorities. There are too many things going on at once to do any of them well and it is way to easy to get distracted by a new initiative before finishing current work.
