
Getting to work with smart people with good energy
People own their work and are friendly. People trust that you will get it done. They don't push urgency unless there is an external timeline (like a spike in customer support tickets of a particular type).
My manager encourages us to engage with each other. Everyone is a great combo of smart and friendly. There is a lot of camaraderie. Because we're a lean org with little duplicative roles, everyone owns their work and prioritizes well.
My grad school program and NYC have pay transparency. I knew how much my grad school classmates were paid by the time we graduated. I can also gauge how much my friends are paid based on their rent threshold, which is astronomical in NYC. I know I'm below the mark.
Our Global All Hands do not feel scripted even with the prepared talking points. Dara and ELT are candid about what is happening in the company, and what they see is happening in the industry on a regular basis. It shows that they're intentional and decisive about this iteration of Uber.
