Elsevier – I am grateful I got this job, I needed it badly. But I really feel undervalued. I am just an extremely well educated and experienced secretary. My job is sort of redundant, so I know it could disappear any time. I know we all need to start from the bottom, so that's what I'm trying to do. | Comparably

What are some of the best things about your team?

They are friendly and helpful when needed.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Colleagues are helpful and approachable, even the big fishes.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Well, I think I need some kind of contact with people. Having to work in an empty building has it's perks but it is usually boring.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

When I accepted this job, I requested a salary that was approved. However, before signing the contract it was reduced because it was too much for the position. I am a PhD with strong research experience, grants, papers, etc. It would've been nice to start with those extra 2,000 that they reduced.

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

It would've been nice to have the salary I requested when I accepted the job. It was reduced even before starting it because it was too much for the position. I mean, I am PhD with great experience. I took the job because I declined other options when I was informed I got this job. Probably my bad.
