I have been given a lot of freedom to pursue and develop my interests. I had to do a lot of self-teaching, though. The company says our careers are in our own hands like it is a good thing and it isn't a bad thing I suppose but they are stingy with training opportunities and resources.

Their willingness to think outside the box and their willingness to experiment with new ways of doing things.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Everyone is very nice and willing to chit chat, and the pace here is leisurely enough that there is plenty of time to chit chat
What makes you most happy at work?
I like experimenting with tools. I like training others on the tools. I like collaborating about ways to improve systems or processes. I like learning about what is going on in other departments.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I started low and was told in the job offer call to not bother negotiating. Raises from there were very small. When I changed roles I got a pay bump and larger raises but 8 years later I still make less than $70K. As soon as my family summer travels are done in August I am going to look elsewhere.
