My team is very like-minded. We appreciate hard work, humor, and our personal lives at a very similar level.
I think that there is a general lack of performance based compensation. Such pay would strengthen the work ethic of the extrinsically motivated employees, while making life more enjoyable for the intrinsically motivated who tend to pick up the slack.
I like it when problems surface and I get to think through effective ways of handling those problems. Day to day churn is both redundant and variable (weirdly enough), but I really like it when I have the opportunity to use creative problem solving capabilities.
