Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
General Mills is not equitable with promotions - it is much more difficult to get promoted based on actual job performance, versus being in a minority group or being part of the "in" crowd. The corp culture respects diversity, but only in terms of race and gender - diversity of thought/style is not

The promotion process favors the "squeaky wheel" and can get rather political, which can leave deserving people in the dust. For the level of contribution I've made and the skills I have, I should have been promoted sooner than I was.

I would like to see compensation modeled after the structure of team work and agility that is necessary for our company to succeed. Right now people are pitted against one another, hope that someone has some small flaws/failure that puts them at the bottom 10%. Terrible for trust and collaboration.

The collaboration. We have a work area where desks are not assigned so you can move around as needed to work with others and leadership sits in the same area.

What did you like most about the interview process?
I interviewed with a number of people on the team I would be joining. It was good to get a feel for the team and the actual work done by the team I would hopefully be joining. I believe General Mills is more interested in ensuring the personality fit is good.

It was over 2 decades ago since I was interviewed as an external hire. I have been in some internal interviews, which I did not enjoy because the candidate was already selected beforehand. The interview process was conducted to adhere to guidelines and give the appearance of transparency.

What would you improve about your company's interview process?
It was several years ago but they were changing systems and all the Resume and Background info was lost a few times requiring duplicate effort. Also, they had contractors setting up interviews and offered very short lead times to come in and speak in person
