Matching some percentage of 401K would be a start. Health benefits are unbelievably expensive for a company of this size.
Field leadership is completely disengaged with store management and the associates working in the stores. Spending more than 30 minutes a visit would be a start.
I am shocked at the tenure of associates in some of the stores. More often than not the associates are treated poorly. What I feel bad about is that because they have endured the poor treatment for so long they are not aware how good other retailers greet their associates.
It needs to start at the top. DMs need to at least act like they care about those working the long hours in the stores. What seems to be getting lost in the day to day operations is that it's all about the people on the front lines dealing with the customers. Treat them like you care.
