Compensation was never the problem. Upper management just plain made poor decisions. Placed pressure on managers to pressure sales staff daily to get better results. Staff could only do so much. Pressure to get All the “extras” is really old.

I am shocked at the tenure of associates in some of the stores. More often than not the associates are treated poorly. What I feel bad about is that because they have endured the poor treatment for so long they are not aware how good other retailers greet their associates.

It needs to start at the top. DMs need to at least act like they care about those working the long hours in the stores. What seems to be getting lost in the day to day operations is that it's all about the people on the front lines dealing with the customers. Treat them like you care.

Customers tend to be on the rude side of the scale, which can't really be improved by the business. Work load is not really distributed very well, and one person may be assigned too many tasks at once
