What did you like most about the interview process?
The job expectations were communicated clearly and the interviewers were interested in my abilities and background, not just my availability and job history.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Our direct manager is realistic in his expectations and acts like one of us on the floor. He communicates expectations, but does not hold unrealistic standards while there is no current business for days on end.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
The pay system is not ideal. While there is no business, the commission and draw system means we are essentially working for nothing since the draw must be repaid from future sales, assuming there are any.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Our team is tight and tries to support each other and give fair chance to earn commission between us. We all try to help each other close sales and improve our pitch, especially those who have been with the company for decades.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
The current negative press is a major concern to all our members, which makes it hard for them to shop with confidence that Sears will continue to exist and fulfill our promises, especially on 3 or 5 year protection for their purchases. Better advertising and a more visible storefront would help.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
We all do what we can to keep morale up among the associates and we strive to make every visit a great one for our customers. Many of our members will stop in to catch up just because they are in the area, or haven't come in for a while, not just when they are in the market for something.
