When I came to Smartsheet, I came believing I would have the opportunity to do great work, contribute to a winning organization and grow in a positive culture where employees are appreciated and recognized. Unfortunately, my experience and pride in working at Smartsheet has fallen short of that.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The only positive benefit I can offer about the culture and environment of this company today is that it offers a remote-first approach. This allows me to feel most productive without distraction.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Our customer and industry feedback reflects that our product feels outdated, despite new features being introduced. From onboarding to ongoing support and services, the user experience lacks innovation making it difficult to compete.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Leadership does not consistently demonstrate a genuine appreciation for the employees working hard for Smartsheet everyday. Leadership could prioritize offering competitive compensation in this tech space, and foster (any) culture of appreciation for it's employees, not just food at the office.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
Smartsheet's inability to hit goals, lack of transparency during transitions and absence of cross-functional support has severely impacted morale. The low morale makes it difficult to engage with unhappy coworkers in a negative atmosphere. I do not feel a sense of pride working for Smartsheet.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
My compensation does not reflect the effort, skill and dedication I put into my work, especially when others in my network at similar sized tech companies get 10K salary increases this year. A fair increase in pay, aligned with market rates and contributions I make would make us feel appreciated.
