When you get down to it, there's no real way to make up for the impersonal nature of such a computer-reliant, automated work and management environment. If that gap could close just a little, though, it would be better.

I would say that it's simply that the work is easy, if dull, and pays quite well considering how easy it was to get the job; combine that with reasonable management and it's a monotonous but pleasant environment to make money in.
