Stop nepotism and follow meritocracy, reach out to individual physians rather than to listen to your puppet chiefs of departments

Following through with the agendas and plans made at meetings to improve quality care and get a better sense of the clinical needs of the operation in relation to the staffing / acuity. To much bean counting by upper level management who are clueless clinically but are cost driven.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
As an Oncology RN, it takes specialized training and continuing education to do this job, in addition to the education required to become an RN. The pay of a nurse should be based on cost of living in the geographic area where they work, and the work they do, as well as competing hospitals around

A raise Because I am in school for my BSN I was informed that once I obtain it I did not get a raise that the tuition they pay for my school is my raise

Compensation is fair but could be about 3 percent better for competitive. Benefits are good but do not cover what many other private ins. cover. Retirement is pretty competitive

Some Upper level management are inexperienced and have not demonstrated ability to lead. All talk, no action. No visibility. You have to come out of the ivory tower to see the light.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Unable to staff it appropriately. Need to beef up availability, prn pools. Centralized staffing office is ineffective. You are better with unit based staffing. To much micromanagement.
