It's been an interesting journey to see how a global company tries to work on problems on a global scale.
Working on interesting things regarding company culture
Getting to work on interesting global things
They try to listen and respond to feedback
My team is very willing to help each other out and work collaboratively
The people and how willing they are to share their time and expertise.
My team is very supportive of each other. I appreciate that we look out for each out and help with our shared workload. I haven't yet felt like someone on the team is "slacking off"
I appreciate how the company allows me to bring my whole self to work. My unit is more focused on outcomes rather than micromanaging me or making me conform to some outdated expectations of the workplace.
I'm lucky enough to work near headquarters so I often get to see our leaders as people, people that care about IBMers and the wellbeing of the company. I wish they are willing to be more unguarded and vulnerable with the broader company
My prior relevant work experience in a different industry doesn't seem to factor into the roles and promotions I received. That is slowly changing, but it was frustrating to spend 3 years trying to advance to a role in this org similar to the industry I left behind
I came in as a career shifter and was told my work experience and leadership from another industry would be well valued here. It was often tough to advance as quickly as I'd liked especially seeing that some of my peers had several fewer years of work experience than myself.
