Elsevier Product Department Employee Reviews

What do you like best about the leadership team?

Leadership Reviews

Clarity and transparency, psychological safety with standards

Review from Product Dept · Posted 20 hours ago

Very transparent and welcoming and no hint of vagrant hierarchy.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

They are very approachable and helpful. Always kind as well.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

They are transparent and committed to working on the focus areas that emerge from the annual anonymous survey and the larger triennial anonymous survey.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

They value me as a person, not just an employee

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Leadership Reviews

Goal setting and clear communication to team. Understanding business and project requirements in better way. Decision making.

Review from Product Dept

Communications. Direct, transparent, clear, sensitive communications.

Review from Product Dept

I think if the company allows us to work remotely without having to show up at work 4 times a month, it will be easier for us. In India, we work difficult hours all week and suddenly 1 day a week we are asked to show up at work early in the morning, for the same work that can be done at home.

Review from Product Dept

I think employees should be given more flexibility in working keeping in mind the pressure that is put on them. I think remote work should be the way to go ahead for people who want to work from home and do not want to relocate just to be at work one day every week. I hope this is taken into account

Review from Product Dept

Taking accountability for decisions made and shortfalls, rather than react by cutting costs and people.

Review from Product Dept

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Compensation Reviews

Yearly incentive, PTO distribution, fair wages

Review from Product Dept · Posted 20 hours ago

Tuition reimbursement, bonus eligible, some flexibility it work but not much.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

Employee stock purchase program is free good money for a stock that has pretty much consistently gone up for decades.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

I'm a contractor so I have different benefits, which aren't great. But the pay and working conditions are excellent.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

Salary - this is what matters most

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Compensation Reviews

Given the responsibilities and weightage of work, should at least be paid on performance of each individual and market parity.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

The company is yet to cope with the Indian tax benefits Car lease, ESOP, food coupon and others. These are indirectly compensational benefits that could be worked up on. w.r.t. compensations, the markets highly volatile with AI and ways of working. Consider market corrections for certain employees.

India is often perceived as a low?cost center, with certain strenuous t

A better pay would be better and correspond more to my work. I think what I have is the legal minimum.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

Because of the package deal that we get and the work we do is quite inequal. Rest all benefits from the company is fair. Thank you.

Review from Product Dept

What are some of the best things about your team?

Team Reviews

My current team: Experts in different fields, professional

Review from Product Dept · Posted 20 hours ago

Coworkers tent to put themself in others shoe and work with harmony.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

People are fun, relaxed, and highly competent without being cutthroat. There's a sense of collaboration and teamwork to get the job done where everybody does their part and reasonable redundancies are built in to ensure no gaps, rather than individual star-seeking ego or overworked hustle.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

The team is extremely supportive and helpful.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

They are hardworking and friendly as well.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

Team Reviews

Communication, Ownership, Collaborative work, Build understanding of doing the things right way

Review from Product Dept

They could be more engaged.

Review from Product Dept

If you do not like another colleague, it is not a good idea to talk about it openly in a business setting. As a superior and a subordinate, you can't even point it out.

Review from Product Dept

More interaction beyond small teams, more company spirit

Review from Product Dept

If there was more interaction with the US team about the kind of work they do and the things that are expected from us, it will solve a lot of problems.

Review from Product Dept

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Environment Reviews

Work life balance, we are people not checkboxes

Review from Product Dept · Posted 20 hours ago

Individual contributors and the diversity

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

It's a people-oriented company. If the company takes care of its people, then the people take care of the company as their own.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

It's comfortable treats everyone as an adult who has been hired for their talents and competence. There is no toxic pressure or micromanaging, everyone has a good time joking around with each other but getting a lot done. There is room for grace when you need space for mental or physical health.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

The environment and culture are very positive and friendly.

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Environment Reviews

Better communications and inclusivity. The change in communication frequency has been difficult. More "walk the talk", rather than "talk the talk"

Review from Product Dept

More communication and less escalation.

Review from Product Dept

Retain key talent and not recognize poor perfomance

Review from Product Dept

There has been a recent shift in culture, and seems that it aligns with the economic climate. The hiring pause, and changes in the org has resulted in a shift in culture unfortunately.

Review from Product Dept

It should be more inclusive for the differently abled.

Review from Product Dept

What did you like most about the interview process?

Interviews Reviews

HR behaves oddly. Some people continuously apply for 5-6 years to get selected. Is this done on purpose to maintain the premiumness - not sure. Rejection reasons are not communicated. All HR work is outsourced, the third party needs more training and fixing

Review from Product Dept

10 years ago, simplicity, sincerity of exchanges

Review from Product Dept

Multiple rounds of conversations with very different people, which gives you a good flavor of the expectations of the role from different stakeholders and a feel for future colleagues

Just getting my work done as I find it rewarding.

job security. Relatively less fear of being retrenched

Review from Product Dept · Posted a day ago

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Outlook Reviews

The part of the company I am in (Health) is extremely CAPEX- and finance-driven. Budget cycles, not market trends or customer needs, dictate planning cadence and effectively result in waterfall-like development. Prioritization is based on anecdotes from sellers and executive opinion, not hard data.

Review from Product Dept

Lots of layoffs and reorgs recently. Drags down morale, makes people feel less safe and less comfortable with getting invested in new teams, projects.

Review from Product Dept

Relationships are not so good. There are few people I can talk openly with, so I think the best solution is to have a trusted colleague.

Review from Product Dept

communication could be improved somewhat

Review from Product Dept

I think that working from home will be more beneficial given the insane amount of work that is expected from us within such short periods. This will be beneficial as we get a lot of work towards the weekend and if we work the same shift from home instead of going to office one day to work day shift.
