I'm a contractor, attracted by Elsevier's name and reputation. My team and immediate manager have been supportive and motivating. I was hired for temp-to-perm but it doesn't really appear that there was ever a plan for a perm position, so I do feel misled. Otherwise, my experience has been positive.

I think if the company allows us to work remotely without having to show up at work 4 times a month, it will be easier for us. In India, we work difficult hours all week and suddenly 1 day a week we are asked to show up at work early in the morning, for the same work that can be done at home.

I think employees should be given more flexibility in working keeping in mind the pressure that is put on them. I think remote work should be the way to go ahead for people who want to work from home and do not want to relocate just to be at work one day every week. I hope this is taken into account

People are fun, relaxed, and highly competent without being cutthroat. There's a sense of collaboration and teamwork to get the job done where everybody does their part and reasonable redundancies are built in to ensure no gaps, rather than individual star-seeking ego or overworked hustle.

It's comfortable treats everyone as an adult who has been hired for their talents and competence. There is no toxic pressure or micromanaging, everyone has a good time joking around with each other but getting a lot done. There is room for grace when you need space for mental or physical health.

HR behaves oddly. Some people continuously apply for 5-6 years to get selected. Is this done on purpose to maintain the premiumness - not sure. Rejection reasons are not communicated. All HR work is outsourced, the third party needs more training and fixing

I think that working from home will be more beneficial given the insane amount of work that is expected from us within such short periods. This will be beneficial as we get a lot of work towards the weekend and if we work the same shift from home instead of going to office one day to work day shift.
