Pay should be higher with the limited benefits that are offered

Work life balance is not a thing for the managers in my area, many of us max out on vacation due to the inability to take time off. In writing they ask us to stick to 40 hours, but when the job isn't done in the time allotted you risk getting written up. My advice, live what you preach.

What are some of the best things about your team?
We are all with the common goal of helping our customers to get outside in some form as well as all of us have amazing experiences we can share and pass on.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
We are are about the customer experience at the store with our sales staff selling the positives of being outside.

We are get to share our enjoyment of the outdoors with customers and get paid to do so. Our staff engages in a vary wide array of activities, so there is always some well of knowledge for newbies to drink from.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?
A store manager who wants to work at our location, regularly told why she didn't want to work at our location. More diversity and inclusion, along with accountability for and from our district manager

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Department workload and expectations unrealistic, staff better and farm out some of our responsibilities to other departments, it’s unfair

What would you most like to see improved at your company?
Some in the company are stuck in 'old management' styles and need to adjust or move out of the way. They are hurting growth and development for many in the company and do not align with the way REI is doing things now.
