While Workday is not perfect and it feels like we are trending in the wrong direction with regards to doing what is best for our employees, relatively speaking, it is still an outstanding place to work if you are willing to be compensated under market value for your skills and contributions.
What makes you most happy at work?
Solving very sophisticated problems and working with other members in my organization.
What are some of the best things about your team?
I have an excellent team. We work quite well together and tackle very complex problems with great efficiency. While they are tremendously talented people, they are also outstanding human beings and I have thoroughly enjoyed creating these relationships.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
The leadership favors some organizations over others. I happen to work for the services organization and we largely go unappreciated for the work we do given the great amount of skill and knowledge it takes to deploy. Development and sales, among others, get all the love and investment.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Historically, its been about hiring amazing people and having generous employee centric policies. Unfortunately, over the years this has changed and we are slowly becoming the very type of employer that we used to mock and claimed we would never become. The employee experience is not the same.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
We are paying new hires significantly more than those that have shown their loyalty to Workday over there years. While I continue to receive I praise for my performance and contributions, I continue to be well short of a a 1.0 compa-ratio, and the range seems to move faster than my merit increases.
