Interviewing workers on how managers really are when the district manager isn't there.

Eliminating the clear and obvious boundary between corporate bureaucracy and "team members" who are just trying to work.

Doing their jobs when they are meant to, not alienating new employees, not holding private information over employees heads, not placing blame on people who were clearly not in the wrong, not harassing employees, no passive aggressive attitudes, divide duties on shift / not put it on one person, etc

Appreciate their workers, actually pay their workers when they take their vacations days(especially when it's right before Christmas and you don't get a pay check) They only tell you what you did wrong never what you did right or how well anyone is doing. The worst people you could work for.

What is the best part about your compensation package?
I Get paid the same day. Usually around 3 Am.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
My manager makes me feel undervalued and over worked.

If the company would openly and transparently tell the employee what they are going to be making per hour. That the training would be more hands on instead of eight hours of corporate friendly videos which serve no one.

too is expected of retail workers in general in this country and although cumberland farms tried to make up the difference, it wasn't a consistent pay boost, it was an incentivised pay boost, so not everyone took it seriously and it would ruin it for the rest of us who depended on that extra cash

In large part due to not being told what my benefits even are or where to learn about how to get them. Not being approachable / being aggressive when asked

They are very hard working and amazing

We work together. Some of us at least. We know how to get the job done. My co workers sometimes have to remind me a few times that I can leave. I guess I love my job too much

Our manager is targetting us and is cutting the employees hours as punishment for calling out sick

There's no communication between shifts, and because the store is always open and we operate with such a small staff, there's never team meetings.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?
less favoritism of first shift, more management on other shifts, better screening for future employees, less aversion to firing existing employees, more clearly laid out responsibilities that stay the same and don't change every week

What would you improve about your company's interview process?
Having a two step interviewing process where you meet with the manager and the GSL or the district manager as well. Getting two separate view points of a new hire rather than relying solely on one person to make a good new hire.

I've never once spoken to someone from Human Resources, let alone met them. Former coworkers have tried reaching out about managerial issues and either played phone tag for weeks and gotten nowhere, or told "they're the manager, it's their store to do with as they please."
