Working at Kroger, I feel like I'm being forced to do all the "heavy lifting" in my department.

In my case, my interview was super short, too short, I was only asked about what school I went to during highschool.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Being short staffed is something that I find to be a big problem, and I think it can be improved if they try to hire people for the departments that need them most.
