My opinion of Bobby and Eddie greatly increased during the covid crisis. Previously we heard from them quarterly in formal updates. During the pandemic, it felt like they did really care for employees bc they were seemingly transparent about risks and shared more of the personal side of themselves

Clear vision and transparency in company functions.

The CEO and President do weekly Townhalls and send emails pointing out the health of the company. They are transparent and show that they too are human and provide advice on how to deal with the current climate in America. The director and manager of my department have also been very supportive.

What is the best part about your compensation package?
Fair salary, good benefits. Not a lot of PTO.

compensation-wise, please pay us what recruiters are dangling in front of us

A market adjustment for current employees. Or at least getting cost of living increases separate from performance increases. Candidates should know if hired into a strong team their max increase will be 3% bc managers have to reduce one person's increase to give another person more.

I would feel better if I were compensated based on the value I bring to my team. I was promoted and given a small increase due to my length of service-not value.

I don't feel undervalued, so please don't misinterpret that versus underpaid. Our leadership has supported me and encouraged me through my career here, but because of the many hats that I wear, I do feel as though our salary structure could be stronger.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
HealthStream focuses itself on its own Constitution, filled with core values that positively affect each and every person. What stands out to me is that every employee at HealthStream takes great care to create a positive culture through implementing these values on a day-to-day basis.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Invest in people. This is not the same company it was before the pandemic. Most of your workforce knows nothing about what the company used to be. We need training. We need stability. We need support.

Verity Stream needs to have a focus on ensuring the teams and resources have transparency into the goals of leadership. Often, there are comments made by leadership which seem to indicate they are out of touch with reality of the average employee.

What makes you most happy at work?
Although I am an intern, and I may not be the expert on Excel, my team has shown me that they are confident in my abilities and trust me to work big projects alongside them. What makes me the most happy is the fact that I have freedom in my work, without being hovered over or given strict directions

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
The company re-orgs routinely, and there has been a ton of turnover, and we're left with nobody knowing what anybody's job is, and very low tenure in almost every position. To be moderately successful requires long hours and incredible resilience and figuring things out yourself.

Bobby's personal wealth prevents him from relating to employee retirement needs. He should lean in and work to understand how retirement plans can benefit hstm by retaining talent. Turn over and loss of institutional knowledge hurts hstm more than any other place I've worked bc of the complexity.

Leadership should not make fun of her staff behind their backs with her inner circle staff members. It always gets out. The culture has really suffered with the change in regime. A focus on caring for and about staff vs. just productivity would be nice.

I would like to see people with the responsibility of having staff to be trained in how to be a manager - how to speak to their staff, how to assist their staff in improving their position in the company, etc. Too often people are promoted to manager but they don't know how to behave as a manager.
