Events and swag do not make up for the fact that I'm not paid a realistic wage. I can survive, but I will never be able to do things like afford a house with my current salary. Annual compensation increases should match inflation at a minimum.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Compensation is unrealistic for the marketplace. I would like to remain at HubSpot, but I'm contacted by recruiters on a daily basis hiring for roles that pay over $20k more per year than I make at HubSpot. It's less expensive to fairly compensate current employees than hire new ones.
