Like any other large company, IBM can have some pretty intense bureaucracy, and due to its wide array of offerings, some teams are much more secure than others. Although the company as a whole has some definite weaker areas, I've been extremely lucky to work with highly dedicated and talented IBMers
What do you like best about the leadership team?
IBM's leadership is transparent about business goals and is easily accessible via Slack channels and regular video streams/Q&A sessions
What is the best part about your compensation package?
Although I am not paid as much as my friends who work at other large tech companies, IBM has a wider base of offices which means I am able to work in a much less expensive area.
What makes you most happy at work?
Even as an early professional, I've been able to participate in impactful work that allows me to learn a lot, develop my abilities, and be able to see the results of my work and how it relates to our customers.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
So many people at IBM have spent their entire careers here - which means they have a different set of priorities that's focused around retaining the best talent: the ability to move teams, stressing learning outside the bounds of your specific job role, and working at a sustainable pace.
What are some of the best things about your team?
My team is full of people who are extremely knowledgeable about our work, as well as having a really impressive set of technical skills more generally. It's been an amazing learning experience to work with them. I also really appreciate how much work-life balance is respected by everyone on my team.
