Salaries brought up to market value

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Salary is higher here than at an agency job.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Attrition on the design team

What do you like best about your company?

Work life balance

What are some of the best things about your team?

We're talented, not afraid to hit the books on technical domains, humble.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

The studio, at least, is a safe space for designers to practice their craft. Other enterprise companies disrespect their design department.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

Way too many meetings. The company says it's agile–but it's not. Agile just means "leadership wants you to work fast and do what we say"

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Noticeable attrition on the design teams. We were recruited with a vision for a long career at IBM but reality is you will just make wireframes forever.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Demand for my job is high in the tech industry. I wish IBM would match what other companies are willing to pay. It's better for my career to go elsewhere.

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Too many cooks in the kitchen. There are as many managers, leads, and VPs than individual contributors. Alignment is difficult–I'd rather have a direction that fails so we can pivot, than spend a year flip-flopping and shipping something lukewarm.
